Where smart people ask dumb questions.
Our Story
One evening, staring at an office tower, someone asked: “If a building is already built, why do we still call it a building?” That question led down a rabbit hole of Old English, Proto-Germanic roots, and a linguistics concept called metonymy.
An hour later, we had learned more from that one “stupid” question than from an entire afternoon of serious reading. That’s when we knew: the silly questions are secretly the best ones.
DummyQuestions was born to prove that every throwaway thought — every 2am shower question, every weird thing you wonder on your commute — deserves a real, thorough, genuinely curious answer.
What We Believe
No question is too silly. The moment you dismiss a question as “dumb,” you close a door. We keep every door open — especially the weird ones.
Real answers only. We don’t just say “good question!” and move on. We dig into etymology, philosophy, science, and logic until we find a real answer worth reading.
Follow the rabbit hole. The best part of a dummy question is where it leads. A question about Pinocchio leads to Bertrand Russell. A question about a building leads to Proto-Germanic linguistics. That’s the whole point.
What We Cover
Dummy questions come in all shapes. Language quirks, logical paradoxes, physics that hurts your brain, biology that surprises you, history that nobody bothered to explain. If a question makes you tilt your head and say “huh, actually…” — it belongs here.
Topics we explore: Language & Etymology, Logic & Paradox, Science & Nature, Philosophy, History, Everyday Life, Math & Numbers, Biology.
FAQ
Are the questions actually dumb? Not even slightly. That’s the joke — and the point. The questions sound dumb until you start answering them. Then they become fascinating. Every single time.
How do you pick which questions to cover? Simple: we ask whether the answer surprises us. If investigating a question leads somewhere unexpected — a historical footnote, a philosophical paradox, a scientific explanation nobody talks about — it’s in.
Can I suggest a question? Absolutely. If you’ve had a shower thought you can’t shake, send it over. The weirder the better.
Is the content accurate? We take accuracy seriously even when the questions are silly. Every claim is researched. If we get something wrong, we fix it — and that’s a promise.
